SOL

 SOL is a set of ANSI C functions for use in the pointing control system of a solar telescope. The functions implement various specialized coordinate transformations that ordinary nighttime astronomical telescopes do not require.

The following solar coordinate systems are supported:

  • Heliographic
  • Stonyhurst
  • Helioprojective
  • Heliocentric

    …including their relationship to:

  • Topocentric apparent place
  • Geocentric apparent place

    Methods for generating the required ephemerides are also addressed:

  • Heliocentric Earth ephemeris
  • Solar physical ephemeris
